i love my spanish class and my spanish profesora, Cynthia
and we all know she stays burning people out / calling them out in class


after class she comes up to me... "what happened to your life?"
like damn. im not offended because i know that wasnt her intention (or so im assuming), but im more so upset that 1) i fell behind in studies 2) she noticed. this is such a reminder that i cant let my personal problems and struggles interfere with other classes affect my work habits. the idea of a teacher being responsive/noticing your change is something i have always successfully avoided until now i guess

anyhow. enough of me rambling...

another movie pick !

"raising victor vargas"

it falls under the neorealism category. takes places in the lower east side, and focuses on the main character, Victor and his small eccentric family composed of his strict Domincan grandmother, brother (Nino), and his half-sister Vicky. the film also captures his cocky, arrogant nature, and his relationship with women...in particular, the apple of his eye, the bodiqua on the block judy lol ... good movie. its so realistic, the shaky camera and lingering scenes help to humanize the characters...i definitely recommend it if you can get your hands on it. whats also interesting is that none of the actors are professional (at the time), but they still manage to engage the viewer and keep our attention the whole through.

oh did i mention..the main character isnt too shabby at all... hes actually been in quite a few films/has a number in production... lords of dogtown, haven (w/ orlando bloom), and many more
