français

speaking of escaping, retreating, and running
off with your imagination...

i recommend this movie,
originaly a french film titled "le scaphandre et le papillon"
(= "the diving bell and the butterfly) is a memoir-to-film
adaptation of the life of jean-domique bauby aka jean-do
who was the French ELLE editor-in-chief from '91-'95.

jean-do's life took a turn for the worse when one day
he suffered a massive stroke and as a result was in a coma
and then "locked-in-syndrome" (some say its the equivalent
as being buried alive... youre completely paralyzed, speechless,
yet your brain is intact).

its not your average pity-party movie.
it is a film that i thoroughly enjoyed because it not
only engages the audience through the director's various
filming techniques, it also sought to bring this upper-class
fashionista man into the hearts of ALL.
his humanity, courage, and genuine nature was surely captured.
